Rob Whelan
Managing Director
Rob founded AP Group in 2011 and leads the business with more than two decades of experience across professional services, franchising, and strategic leadership. He has held senior executive roles across large, multi-site organisations and brings a strong commercial and governance perspective to the Group.
Known for his strategic focus and collaborative leadership style, Rob is most proud of the culture built across AP Group and its legal, finance, and brokerage teams.
Outside of work, Rob enjoys improving his golf handicap and keeping up with his two energetic daughters.
Rohan Murray
Senior Lawyer
Rohan brings almost 20 years’ experience across Victorian and Federal jurisdictions, advising businesses, families, and individuals with clarity and a practical, outcomes-driven approach. His work spans commercial and family law matters, including business sales, partnerships, trust and share structures, and estate planning.
He regularly appears as a solicitor advocate and is known for his calm, measured advice. Rohan also holds a PhD in Music Performance.
Outside of work, Rohan maintains a strong connection to music and the arts.
Walid El-Hawli
Solicitor
Walid advises clients on business transactions, contracts, leasing, and dispute matters, and is valued for his clear communication and practical approach. He supports clients through sales, purchases, negotiations, and compliance matters with steady professionalism.
His experience includes roles at Allens Linklaters, Monash Law Clinics, and Melbourne Legal Chambers, providing a strong foundation in commercial legal practice.
Outside of work, Walid enjoys tennis, following the NBA, supporting St Kilda, and an interest in supercars.
Stella Samuel
Solicitor
Stella is a recently admitted solicitor with more than 21 years’ experience across the banking and finance sectors, having held senior roles with ANZ, NAB, Commonwealth Bank, Equity Trustees, and Barclays in the UK. Her background spans regulatory compliance, risk and operations, complex credit matters, and working closely with legal teams on high-value transactions.
Known for her calm and considered approach, Stella is highly analytical and deeply client-focused. She holds a Juris Doctor and is admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Outside of work, Stella enjoys experimental cooking, reading, and listening to music.
Elizabeth Liew
Senior Administrator
Elizabeth provides essential support across AP Group, working closely with the legal, sales and finance teams to ensure processes run smoothly. Known for her organisation and adaptability, she helps keep work moving efficiently behind the scenes.
Her career has included international roles in the airline, publishing, and events industries, followed by six years in administration roles in Australia.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys reading mystery novels, travelling, and spending time at the beach.
Kathy Marshman
Business Support
Kathy provides broad support across AP Group, assisting with legal operations, pharmacy sales, trust account management and finance applications. Her strong organisational skills and experience make her a trusted point of support across the business.
She joined AP Group in 2016 after long-term operations roles across a range of industries, where she developed expertise in systems and process improvement.
Outside of work, Kathy balances her role with family life and her puppy Lewy.
Dee McNamara
Marketing Manager
Dee has over 15 years’ experience developing marketing strategies across industries including sports, tourism, and fashion. Before joining AP Group, she was a creative director at a boutique marketing agency.
She holds a Master of Marketing with Distinction and has been published in Marketing Magazine, bringing a thoughtful and strategic approach to brand and communications.
Outside of work, Dee is an accomplished surfboat rower and enjoys staying active.
Phoenix Nguyen
Systems Manager
Phoenix has more than 18 years’ IT experience across Australia, Asia, and the USA, with expertise spanning IT infrastructure, CRM and ERP systems, web development, and process improvement. His work helps ensure AP Group operates efficiently and securely.
He has worked with organisations including Sony, Macquarie Group, Jetstar, and Fast Retailing Co., bringing strong technical depth to his role.
Away from work, Phoenix enjoys surfing and fishing.
